Yamaha Jog CV50 - Page 3 |
Page 3 of 3 Summing up the Yamaha Jog 50. That is pretty easy…it has JOG SPEED, man that is everything. Everything else is irrelevant. Line this thing up next to a wombat and the poor hairy little guy won’t even know which way you went. Hey, line it up next to every other 50cc scooter we’ve tested and all they’ll see is your rump as you moon them into the distance. Really though, the Jog is right at the very top of my list when it comes to sensibly priced 50cc scooters. The Jog has been one the best 50cc machines for a long long time and for good reason. It really does almost everything well. If you’re in the market for a 50 then the Jog should be the very first bike you ride. I doubt you’d buy anything else for similar money once you’ve tried it. Besides everything else will just feel…slow.

im 16 and are intrested in purchasing my first bike. what would you recommend? I've been researching scooters and I like the Piaggio zip and The Jog. I don't want anything to slow and im on a tight budget. I would use it to go to the train station, my cousins house which is some distince away and getting to school.

Zachary, sorry for the delayed response, I am sure the Jog will suit your needs just fine, I havn't looked at it closely for a while but I don't believe it has pegs for the pillion otherwise it will be just fine for the short jaunts you describe. I screamed around on it when I was up over the 90kg mark and it performed admirably... take it for a ride.

i have a 2008 TGB 101s 50cc and it is very nippy for a 50cc. i think its quicker than the jog could u guys do some research and review this scooter because it tops out over 70km/hr and has no weight restriction for pillion. basically it is a beast with fat tyres. i think it would do 0-50 in less than 7 seconds believe it or not. so could u find it and review it cause its a mighty 50 with 4.9hp. i love it :)

Flawless scooter to my standards, if i hadn't been rear ended by a pregnant woman i would still be dominating the streets on my trusty JOG! this a great little scooter for anyone who has $2k to spend on a newie so don't have doubts about this scooter. Now im on an AZ and my friend rides a jog and i cant help but feel jealous as he pulls ahead of me slowly on the straights.

written by goofyp , September 02, 2009 I have a 2004 Jog Coolstyle with 28,000km on it. Its fast, the speedo says 58km/h then the restrictor kicks in (which I think is dangerous if cars are behind you). Anybody know how to derestrict? My 96'Jog had a higher top end but the acceleration with this Jog is incredible! It has a digital 6 bar fuel gauge & odometer. (about 30km/bar) Seat release (via remote control)-Yes Front disc brakes, rear-drum. It flys uphill..40/50km/h but I'm light 65kg. I wouldn't recommend 2 people but have done it, It puts too much strain on the transmission. The newest Jog's are 4 strokers :( report abuse

This is a great review but I have a couple of questions. I weigh just over 90kg's, so what can this bike take? The 1st post suggests the recommended weight in 65kgs and I'd hate to have it bottoming out on small bumps. Also my wife & I wanted to buy one to do a 500m run through suburban streets to the local coffee strip, if the recommended weight is 65kg's how would it go with 2 people on it? (if it takes a pillion?) Would something like the KYMCO ZX50 be a better choice, reading reviews it seems to be a bit more powerful & a lot of the advertising shows 2 people on it. Thanks in advance for your reply. Just an FYI - it is literally for a short run to make the coffee strip more accessible, a larger CC scooter with the additional cost + licencing is not in my budget.

Great Bike - gets faster and more economical as you run it in. Only con I can think of is the annoying speed light that flashes on and off if you are breaking the Japanese speed limit for mopeds of 35kph. Does 35km up a very steep hill near me that my car struggled up in 2nd gear. I get 65kph out of this on the flat (still restricted) and rip past all the 4 strokes (and I am heavier than the recommended limit in the handbook of 65kg!)

Page 2 of the review contradicts itself first saying that 2.8L/100 km is 67mpg then saying it's 85mpg.. it's actually 84mpg... and 67mpg is actually 3.5L/100km...

JL... It would depend on where you live and what the appropriate legislation is. This was an unrestricted machine. in some places the top speed restriction needs to be in place to qualify as a moped... although im fairly sure there is no way to tell without riding or testing the speed if it is restricted or not...

Sharon... You boyfriend is clearly a man of good judgement and character and you should immediately go and do something special for him for buying you such a superb mode of transportation :D Azzy... yeah it is a shame... the vino which I think is the closest you guys get from yamaha is a pretty poor substitute... at least where performance is concerned. Vino review up soon just FYI. NickR... The Jog has just has a fuel gauge, digital style. report abuse

If they offered a roots type supercharger, ABS, better lights, plug-in cellphone/ipod charger, navi/gps, grip heaters, Anti Theft Alarm with taser (for those people who just won't give up), etc.
I'd buy one right away :-)
But until then, I'll ride mine till it croaks, then find another 2004 Jog till Yamaha or any other maker comes up with a better scooter.
