Suzuki Burgman Sport Concept |
Is this the future? It could well be if Suzuki R&D have their way. Now don't be offended with this short blurb... It has oft been said that to ride a maxi scooter such as the venerable Burgman you have to be more... shall we say... mature. So, the young, hip crowd which I unfortunately drift further away from by the day don't buy 'em... Suzuki has had the wherewithall to ask why and try for a solution. Everyone knows that the maxi's are good fun, have a bit of pace and will work for a bit of touring work... sounds like a young persons device as much as anything else could be considered so. Suzuki thought perhaps it was just a styling issue and let their R&D team have a play. They came up with what can really only be described as a cross between a Burgman, a Hyabusa, a Gixxer (thats GSX-R for the not Motorcycle jargonese out there) and a custom Japanese scooter. All in all I think they did a pretty good job. The paint looks good and well applied and the detail changes seem pretty harmonious. Will it grab the attention of a younger market? I don't know... but at least there is some attempt to freshen things up from one of the big boys. If they can just inject a few more horses... 30 or so...and shave 60 or 70 pounds... winner no question! Comments
