What a shame you didn't get a chance to test the kymco bug. I love it's retrog look which is very much the same as your ladies favourite, the sym 125, but I want a wee bit more grunt, hence my theoretical preference. and kymco are supposed to be good. Happy to be given any other feedback on this.

Re Sym VS, you might want to check the quality, or lack there of, of the plastic fittings after 6 months in the sun.

Sorry to quibble, but I do disagree with the formula you use to calculate your fuel consumption figures. To obtain Imperial MPG, I use these two formulae, and usually they agree:

1: 4.546÷[litres used]×62 2: 282.48 ÷[litres used] Under both formulae, the winning SYM 150 has an Imperial fuel consumption of 108 mpg. Even more impressive. Nearly as good as my much missed Honda Lead 100, which got 113 mpg, and my equally missed Kinetic GF170, which got a regular 120 mpg. In mixed riding conditions, a two wheeler of between 150 cc to 200 cc if ridden intelligently, will usually get better fuel figures than smaller bikes as they are not on full throttle the whole time to avoid being run over by school run Mums on cell phones. Anything bigger can't quite achieve the part throttle efficiency of this size range. The pity is that very few of these bikes are comfortable (trail bike seats, small chopper riding positions, barely adequate suspension and brakes) and open road travel involves high revs and vibration. My Kinetic was very comfortable, but struggled a bit at high speed over 90 kph due to poor full throttle carburetion. If finances hadn't demanded it I'd still have it. Lovely bike. report abuse

Hi, really useful review - very logical results section. Question - how would the Vespa GTV125 stack up relative to these? The GTV is probably the best mid-sized Vespa available currently, so it worth thinking about. Realise you've mentioned the Vespa S, but the GTV borrows running gear from the GTS (I think) so should perhaps be a little more competitive.

Hi, awesome review and very entertaining to read! Really loved the results from the Mio100 and Cygnus, and the SYM SV150 looks to have all the right features for a perfect daily. It's too bad we won't see any of these in the US, we just get the toned down (rubbish) 50cc versions, great read regardless. A+ quality review :)
