Derbi's Rambla 125 and 250cc scooters are getting closer to what we here at TSR reckon scooters should be... especially the 250 version. Using the reliable Piaggio 250cc engine which makes a handy 22 odd horsepower and reducing weight to a more user (and acceleration) friendly 147kgs this promises to be a pretty exciting ride. Add to that the fact that there are disc brakes front and rear, 15" wheels and modern styling we can't wait to test this beast. For more detail and some PR from Derbi then keep reading.... Below is the Derbi Press Release:
The New Urban Seduction
With the new Derbi Rambla 125 / 250i scooter, Derbi returns to the city. With all the strength and sporting vigour that characterizes this legendary make, founded in Barcelona in 1922. With the instinct for urban reliability offered by the technology of the Piaggio engine. Now, the urban asphalt belongs to Derbi.
Derbi Rambla 125 / 250i represents an advanced, state-of-the-art style with all the typical sportiness of the Spanish brand. Every urbanite has a favourite corner of the city, a place to escape to or take someone special, to feel free. Finding this place and enjoying it fully is the authentic urban seduction. To live this intensely, Derbi proposes a combination of dynamism, technological innovation, sporting character and reliability: the new Derbi Rambla 125 / 250i scooter. With technical features chosen with the youngest and most dynamic segment in mind, the Derbi Rambla 125 / 250i is the perfect answer to the urban combination of pleasure and practicality. In the Derbi Rambla, its looks and technology go hand in hand. The joint work of engineers and designers has enabled the creation of a vehicle that seamlessly combines a sophisticated, advanced and comfortable design with high levels of robustness and safety: the definitive sum of Derbi’s sporting spirit with all the technical capabilities of the Piaggio engine.
Rambla 250i Other functional aspects worthy of note included a low-slung seat (775mm), suitable for all users, and a generous load capacity. The seat is made of non-slip material which is narrower at the front for improved stability when stationary; its load capacity is explained by a large interior compartment under the seat, where the jet helmet can be stored, a glove compartment, a hook for bags, and a flat platform for an improved posture and an easier ride. Optional accessories for the Derbi Rambla include a windscreen and a storage case that can be fixed on the package carrier with standard side-mounted handles. The LCD digital/analogue instrument panel gives this vehicle a sporting and up-to-date image. The hot air exhausts behind the front cowl and the 12V connexion (ideal for recharging your cell phone) are other features that facilitate the daily use of this scooter. The Derbi Rambla’s versatility begins in its own mechanical heart. The new scooter hits our streets with 125cc and 250cc injection engines, guaranteeing a wide range of uses for all transportation requirements. The Derbi Rambla stands out for its ease of ride, its generous storage compartments, and precise and efficient braking, thanks to the 260mm front-disc braking system (dual disc in the 250i version) and 220mm rear brake. Moreover, it is worth noting the safety offered by the large 15-inch wheels, the suspension and the entire braking system, for greater stability and riding comfort, positioning it as the most sportive high-wheel scooter on the market. The Derbi Rambla 125 cc model has a single-cylinder 4-stroke, 4-valve Euro3 engine that produces a power of 11 kW (15 HP). Aimed at the younger market, it has been designed with urban mobility in mind. The model is compatible with type-B driver’s license. It also incorporates a front (260mm) and back (220mm) disc-brake system for efficient, precise braking. The Derbi Rambla 250i features a single cylinder 4-stroke, Euro3 valve engine and 244cc electronic injection and 16.5 kW (22.5 CV) power, with tested efficiency for lower consumption and reduced emissions. It has an extended range, making it a perfect choice for travel outside urban limits. Moreover, the dual front disc (2x260mm) allows for greater braking capacity and safety. Both models come in two colours: the Rambla 125cc is available in black or white, and the 250i version comes in black or blue. The new Rambla 125/250i is available now throughout the entire network of Derbi dealers. · Derbi Rambla Users gain new experiences in urban freedom Rambla users are young, with an urban spirit, always up-to-date and, above all, they value their freedom of movement.
