Ok so probably not... Made you look though didn't I? Truth be told I really would not want to brake hard on this Pedal equipped peice of art. Sliding off that seat would be a very unpleasant proposition. Thanks to the Scooter Scoop for bringing this awesome chopped Tomos Moped to our attention. It is really good to see some creative work going into scooters and mopeds around the world. To see some more pics have a look at King Jude's Photostream.
This story caught my eye today... It could be the cheapest touring ever achieved? Basically a gentleman decided to ride his Honda Today 50cc 4 stroke scooter fully laden with touring kit... tent, sleeping bags etc 1400 odd kilometres from Portugal to Spain and back over 6 days. He says "One of the purposes of this adventure was, besides all the great fun in it, demonstrating that one can have a good life with little money."
I have to say this goal was achieved with a total fuel spend of approximately bugger all (35 euros). I don't know if I would be able to handle touring on a 50cc scooter but it looks like he had a bucketful of fun. See the video HERE.

News on the street is that former US Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld has gone green...
well perhaps it is a bit early to say he has traded the might of the US military for a peppy Italian Vespa. However it would appear that he has purchased a shiny red Vespa LXV150... Perhaps it is a gift... or perhaps it is to go in the back of some sort of converted Humvee Recreational Vehicle/Motorhome for trips to the ammo store. Either way it is nice to see a stereotype broken every now and again... now when the governator starts zapping around on a SYM Mio 100 I will really have to take a look at my opinion of the US bigwigs.
Ok I hate to whine and whinge but I feel the need to (once more) complain at Piaggio... Hopefully one day they might listen.
Piaggio have released another bike with their "all new 300cc engine" which is... to not put too fine a point on it... a complete waste of time. The new Gilera Nexus 300 replaces the old 250cc bike. I can't see any reason to upgrade if you already own the 250. Power is up by about one Gp that's Gnat Power although torque is slightly better as well up to 23nm. Both peak Hp and Torque are found slightly lower in the rev range... and I mean very slightly... around 500rpm lower.
